A man who was part of a team delivering asphalt during a road re-paving project in Freeport, Long Island, died a gruesome death Tuesday morning.
The men were working on Grant Street near Guy Lombardo Avenue when, according to a witness at the scene, the victim dropped a tool that rolled beneath the massive eighteen wheeler as it prepared to back up in order to deliver its’ load of asphalt.
As the man reached beneath the truck to retrieve the tool the driver, unaware that the coast was not clear, backed up the truck and crushed his colleague beneath the massive wheels.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, but could only pronounce the man deceased where he lay under the truck. The Investigation into this horrible incident is ongoing.
