The 85yr old driver of a white Mercedes Benz sedan was pronounced dead at the Hospital after he collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck on Peninsula Boulevard at the intersection of Harris Avenue in Hewlett, Nassau County, at about 11:29AM on Tuesday. The pickup truck overturned onto its’ right side.
It was the second road fatality of the morning on Peninsula Boulevard, happening just a mile and a half away from the earlier one on Peninsula Boulevard and Edwards Avenue.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was also transported to a Hospital with non life threatening injuries. It is not clear whether he faces any charges.
A 73yr old Jewish man was pronounced dead at the Hospital after he was struck by a 36yr old woman driving a white Infiniti SUV as he tried to cross Peninsula Boulevard at Edwards Avenue in Woodmere, Nassau County, at about 7:00AM on Tuesday.
The driver remained at the scene. It is unknown at this time whether she faces any charges.
A 56yr old man crossing Woodhaven Boulevard at 91st Avenue in Queens was struck by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes.
The driver that struck the man then fled the scene. The battered body of the man lay dead on the roadway, some distance from where a pair of khaki colored pants, a black shoe, a black glove and a black backpack can be seen on the ground.
Investigators scoured the area for witnesses and surveillance video in their efforts to piece together what actually happened and to get a lead on the driver or drivers responsible.
As of 9:40AM, A NYPD Spokesperson stated that no one has been arrested and the Investigation is ongoing.
A 39yr old man riding a Citibike on 5th Avenue near Warren Street in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn was rushed to Methodist Hospital at about 7:40AM, with what was initially reported as severe head injuries, after he collided with a car driven by a 45yr old man on Tuesday.
The Citibike, with its’ front wheel broken off, was observed on the sidewalk.
A NYPD Spokesperson later stated that the bicyclist was in stable condition. It is not clear whether the driver or bicyclist received any Summons.
A 69yr old man riding his bicycle eastbound on 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn on Monday was rushed to New York University Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition after he was struck and run over by a truck.
The truck, bearing the name Manor Paving, was also traveling eastbound on 3rd Avenue when the driver proceeded to turn right onto 31st Street whereupon he struck the cyclist, who was wearing a safety helmet.
FDNY, NYPD and EMS personnel rushed to the scene and worked feverishly to extricate the man, whose leg was entangled in the warped bicycle. A Tourniquet was applied to the mans’ right leg before he was loaded into a FDNY ambulance and taken expeditiously to the hospital.
The 44yr old driver of the truck remained at the scene and as of today, Friday, there is no indication that he faces any charges. There is also no update on the condition of the cyclist. A NYPD spokesperson stated that the Investigation is still ongoing.
A 57yr old man riding his bicycle westbound on Avenue I in Brooklyn on Sunday January 6, 2019, was rushed to Maimonides Hospital in critical condition with head trauma after the driver of a parked black Ford Explorer SUV opened his door as the man was going by.
The bicyclist vaulted over the door and landed on his head. According to the NYPD, the driver of the SUV was later arrested due to Open Warrants not related to the crash. The NYPD did not provide information as to the nature of these Warrants. The Investigation into the crash itself is ongoing.

A 25yr old woman riding her bicycle northbound on Evergreen Avenue near Menahan Street in the bicycle lane was struck by a garbage truck owned by the Sanitation Department of New York just after 9:00PM Wednesday night in Brooklyn.
According to witnesses the truck, which was also traveling north on Evergreen Avenue, then kept on going, leaving the woman crumpled in the street. “Her right arm was practically torn off” “She was not moving”, said one witness who declined to give his name.
The woman was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition. Police Officers tracked the garbage truck to a Sanitation Depot almost two miles away on Varick Avenue and Meserole Street where, according to the NYPD, two people were taken into custody for questioning.
There are no arrests and no charges filed at this time, according to the NYPD. The Investigation is ongoing.

A 32yr old man trying to cross Willmohr Street at East 94th Street in Brooklyn was mowed down by a driver who then fled the scene at about 11:00AM on Tuesday February 13th, 2018. The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition with head trauma and leg injuries.
